USB Type-C devices are increasingly prevalent, and it is just natural to want native USB Type-C storage and accessories. No one wants to carry around adapters and docks all day, and Transcend understands this. Transcend Malaysia has just announced their line-up of Type-C products, ranging from tiny USB flash drives to external hard drives and card readers.

Transcend USB Type-C

The smallest products in the range, the Transcend JetFlash 850S and JetFlash 890S USB Type-C flash drives are capable of delivering transfer speeds of up to 130MB/s. The JetFlash 890S features dual connectors, to work with standard USB 3.1 (Gen 1) Type-A ports. Both USB flash drives use innovative Chip On Board (COB) technology and sport a metallic casing, for great dust and splash resistance. The JetFlash 850S and 890S come in a range of capacities, with the largest being 64GB. Pricing wise, the JetFlash 850S starts from RM75 for the 16GB variant, while the JetFlash 890S starts from RM79. Both USB flash drives are covered by Transcend’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Transcend external drives are some of the toughest we have ever seen, and now the StoreJet 25MC receives a USB Type-C update. Equipped with a reversible USB Type-C to work natively with USB Type-C devices. The StoreJet 25MC also meets U.S. military drop test standards, so you can rest assured that your data is well protected. The Transcend StoreJet 25MC 1TB is pricred at RM339, and will be backed by a 3-year Limited Warranty.

Last but not least, the Transcend RDC8K and RDC2K are USB Type-C card readers. The RDC2K is designed to work with Android devices with a standard USB Type-A port to function as an USB OTG adapter as well as SD card and microSD card slots. The RDC8K supports a wide variety of flash card standards, including the common SD and microSD cards, up to CF cards and MemoryStick (MS) cards. Both card readers are equipped with a fast USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface for quick data transfers. The RDC8K will be priced at RM109, while the RDC2K will be priced at RM99. Both card readers are backed by a 3-year Limited Warranty.

Pokdepinion: USB Type-C is definitely here to stay due to the physical size of the port as well as the speeds that the connector can support. More accessories that work natively with USB Type-C may one day alleviate all issues of needing an adapter to use USB Type-C ports.
