The ASUS ZenFone 5 is confirmed to appear at MWC 2018 with their #BackTo5 campaign. Now we have gotten a few peeks at the device, including a ASUS ZenFone 5 with an 18:9 display, and we are looking forward to more, since ASUS always has an array of smartphones that target the entire price range. So what do we really hope to be able to see from ASUS at MWC 2018?

A True Flagship, ASUS ZenFone 5 Pro?

The ZenFone 3 Deluxe with 6GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 821

ASUS has never been shy to pack their devices with the big guns. From being the first to pack the Snapdragon 821 in the ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe to the Snapdragon 835 in the ZenFone 4 Pro, ASUS will probably not break the trend and introduce a member of the ZenFone 5 family with the Snapdragon 845. Of course, such a device would not be complete without loads of RAM and fast UFS 2.1 storage. It will probably be sharing its specifications with the rumored ROG Phone too? No one knows, but we will know for sure soon enough.

The mid-range monster, ASUS ZenFone 5

We have already leaks of the ASUS ZenFone 5’s design. For better or worse, it will be just like an iPhone X running on Android. The screen will probably be a 6.2″ one, as the ZE620KL codename leads us to believe. This definitely won’t run on the latest flagship SoC, but we are looking at either the new Snapdragon 636 or a proven Snapdragon 660 to grace this mid-ranger with ample performance for anything you can throw at it. RAM should be at least 6GB, as the ASUS ZenFone 4 has already spoiled us in that aspect. Storage speeds should take a step up this year, as eMMC 5.1 is definitely getting too old for its own good. A bigger battery is probably not necessary with the efficiency of the Snapdragon 6xx chipsets, but more is always welcome. The highlight feature of the ZenFone 4 series, the wide angle camera, is also expected to make a comeback, hopefully with a higher resolution.

The newcomer, ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite?

There has never been a “Lite” ZenFone, but then again there has never been a “Pro” ZenFone prior to the 4th generation of ZenFones. New lineups could popup any moment. The leaked images show no notch on the screen, and the camera is centered instead. Rumored specifications show us a Snapdragon 660, which would be quite hard to believe if the ZenFone 5 features a similar SoC. Perhaps ASUS decided to offer the same specifications in two different sizes? Speaking of size, this device has the codename ZC600KL, which points to a 6″ display.

Entry-level fighter, ASUS ZenFone 5 Max

This is probably going to be ASUS’ most affordable device in the lineup. Featuring an 18:9 display and a really THICC body, this looks to be the next-in-line for the very successful ZenFone Max family. Specifications that were previously leaked pointed to a Snapdragon 430, but we hope ASUS will throw in at least a Snapdragon 450 here. We expect no less than 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, but we are always open to surprises. The battery will be understandably larger than your usual smartphone, so we are looking at around 5000 mAh.

Do you have any specifications or features you wish the ASUS ZenFone series had? Let us knows in the comments section below!
