Driver updates often bring performance improvements in the latest games, through optimization. NVIDIA has decided that the NVIDIA Maxwell cards are around long enough, and has decided to categorize them as their legacy products. While the GTX 900 series will still support the latest drivers, they won’t gain any extra performance from them.

Gamers who are running SLI configurations may also face issues if support for multi-GPU is missing, as new drivers won’t bring them any joy. With the recent DirectX 12 and Vulkan-based games coming out, it really seems like high time for the Maxwell-based products to fade into history with their dismal performance in DirectX 12. Well, that was fast, NVIDIA. In any case, the latest batch of GPUs offer a much greater bang for buck, so anyone upgrading from an even older graphics card should jump straight to the latest generation to enjoy the benefits of both a process shrink and newer architecture, irregardless if you are looking at the red camp or green one.

the GTX 1060 is a pretty good deal now IMO. There are AIB partner brands that sells it at the price of RM12xx. slightly higher than the upcoming RX 470 from the red camp :P

Oh hi yellow dog! Yes I agree that the GTX 1060 is an amazingly good deal especially if you compare it against offerings from the red camp :D
