MSI announced three monstrous workstation laptops today – the MSI WT73VR, MSI WE72VR and the MSI WS63. These workstation laptops are targetted at 3D modellers and animators, especially those who want to venture into the Virtual Reality segment of the market. MSI WT73VR (7RM 642MY)

Top of the line is the MSI WT73VR, which is a humongous 18″ beast, posing a 17.3″ display. It’s a powerhouse running on Intel Core i7 7820K processor to begin with. It has a 17.3″ Full HD IPS Display which projects the output from an Nvidia Quadro P5000 GPU that has 16GB of GDDR5 VRAM. It comes with 32GB of DDR4 RAM and has a Super Raid 4 setup. What is Super Raid 4, you ask? It couples 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD configured in Raid0 with 1TB 7200rpm HDD for superior Read/Write speeds. MSI also didn’t loosen the throttle on it’s audio which features a 2 x Dynaudio speakers with an additional woofer. Additionally, it has a Thunderbolt 3 port for fast external data transfer. To spice things up, MSI has integrated a SteelSeries RGB backlit keyboard and provides 3 years peace-of-mind warranty to the buyers.

The WT73VR is a VR-ready machine, capable of running some of the heaviest 3D designing and rendering applications ensuring smooth performance and immersive experience. Of course, this beast is not expected to be something that everyone of us can afford. It’s priced at RM24,999 which is kinda expected if you just look at the specsheet.

MSI WS63 (7RK 402MY)

Up next among the siblings is the MSI WS63 which is another monster, packed in a smaller shell. Delivering output on a 15.6″ FHD IPS Display, the WS63 is running on Intel Core i7 7700HQ processor together with a smaller yet powerful Nvidia Quadro P3000 GPU that boasts 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM. It comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, half of it’s elder brother. For storage, a smaller but equally fast 128GB M.2 NVMe SSD and 1TB 7200rpm HDD are residing under the hood. It has 2 speakers and Thunderbolt 3 port as well. As you can see, it also has a SteelSeries RGB backlit keyboard to make work fun.

The WS63 is priced at RM12,899 and also comes with 3 years peace-of-mind warranty.

MSI WE72VR (7RJ 1039MY)

The youngest of all is the MSI WE72VR, a toned down version of it’s elder sibling. Also bearing a 17.3″ FHD IPS Display, the WE72VR is running on Intel Core i7 7700HQ processor coupled with Nvidia Quadro M2200 GPU that has 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM. It comes with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and has 128GB M.2 NVMe SSD mated with a 1TB 7200rpm HDD. Audio is channelled through 4 x Dynaudio speakers with an additional woofer. It also didn’t settle less on its looks, as it, too has a SteelSeries RGB backlit keyboard and comes with 3 years peace-of-mind warranty.

The WE72VR is also VR-ready machine and it priced at RM9,699.
