Canon Introduces New Full Frame EOS RP

Canon has today launched their second addition to their EOS R range of full-frame interchangeable lens mirrorless cameras, the EOS RP.

It comes with DIGIC 8 image processor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which gives optical excellence in a well refined body.

The EOS RP is equipped with the RF lens mount that sports a short flange focal distance of 20mm and was designed to allow more possibilities in lens design and innovation.

Additionally, existing EOS users would be able to utilize their existing collection of EF and EF-S lenses with the optional mount adapter.

In terms of image quality and details, the EOS RP is able to deliver superb image quality in any situation. Its Auto Lighting Optimizer balances the brightest and darkest point to accentuate the details of the images to deliver a well exposed image or in backlit conditions. Its native ISO range of 100-40,000 can be expanded to 50-102,400, which can produce low noise images with rich details, even in low light conditions.

The Dual Sensing IS detects camera shakes from its gyroscopic sensor and the CMOS sensor for image Stabilization allow users to capture images at shutter speeds of up five stops slower.

With its Dual Pixel CMOS AF, it provides a smooth and lightning fast AF speed up to 0.05 seconds. The 4.779 selectable AF positions within the expanded AF area covers approximately 100% vertically and 88% horizontally of the frame.

There’s also Eye Detection AF that will detect and ensure the subject’s eye will always be in focus even at wide open aperture.

As for the EOS RP’s video capabilities, it can shoot in ultra HD with 4K at 24p/25p video footage. The Touch and Drag AF can create the pull-focus effects and enable focus transitions by simply moving your finger from one end to another on the frame on the LCD screen.

The Canon EOS RP will be available for purchase in March for a retail price of RM5,999 for the body only and RM10,999 for the body plus the RF24-105mm f/4L IS USM Kit Lens.

Pokdepinion: The EOS RP comes in with a slightly lower spec than the first Canon Full Frame mirrorless camera but it presents itself as a more affordable option!
