DJI has just launched the DJI Mini 2 drone. The DJI Mini 2 is a high-performance camera drone that packs impressive new features into a small, portable design in the safest drone category weighing less than 249 grams. It is a successor to DJI’s original Mavic Mini drone, DJI Mini 2 is easy to fly, with improved imaging capabilities, powerful flight performance, and significantly enhanced transmission technology for a longer and more reliable connection.

DJI Mini 2: Big upgrade from the original

DJI MIni 2 small size

The DJI Mini 2 features the iconic folding design for easy travel and is very lightweight that adds minimal weight to your bag. The DJI Mini 2 also comes with upgrades to its vital flight performance features compared to the original Mavic Mini.

One of the features is the OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology is DJI’s own transmission technology responsible for ensuring stable, long distance, and reliable connection between the remote controller and the drone. Dual-frequency technology automatically switches between channels to help against interference.

The DJI Mini 2 has a maximum transmission range of 10km, a 150% increase in transmission range when compared to the original Mavic Mini. Additionally, the Mini 2 features upgraded motors that provide 31 minutes of flight time, faster acceleration and speed, along with the ability to withstand winds up to 24mph.

The DJI Mini 2 is made specifically to be fun to fly, simple to operate, and safe for everyday use. It features a live feed from the drone’s camera that is sent to your mobile phone so that you can see exactly where the Mini 2 is and what it sees. It also features simplified buttons and functions to keep things streamlined and easy to understand.

The Mini 2 also sports high-grade positioning and vision sensors. GPS keeps track of where the drone is while the vision sensors on the bottom map out the ground below it and assist automated landing. Here are the other features present on the Mini 2:

  • GEO fencing – keeps drones out of sensitive areas like airports.
  • Return to Home – a feature that can be activated so the drone returns to the pilot.
  • Altitude Lock – an adjustable limit on how high the drone can go.

The DJI Mini 2 also comes with a 1/2.3-inch sensor capable of recording 12MP images (JPEG and RAW files) and a maximum video resolution of 4K/30fps at 100 Mbps. It also features a 3-axis gimbal for shake-free and smooth footage as well as 4X Zoom with 2X lossless in quality.

The companion app, DJI Fly, comes with a tonne of enhancements that make sharing immediately on social media easy and intuitive. Your smartphone can connect directly to the drone without the remote controller and can download images captured by the drone at a high-speed rate of 20 MB/s. You can even apply your own edits with the dedicated editing tools in the DJI Fly app or use the new Enhanced Photo option, which applies edits automatically. You can also choose to trim videos before downloading using the Trimmed Download tool.
