Sony has today officially announced the Sony FX6 (ILME-FX6V) camera, the latest addition to the company’s Cinema Line catered for filmmakers and content creators.

Sony FX6 Cinema Line

With the new camera, it offers a durable and customizability where it is compatible with a wide range of Sony E-mount lenses. It sports a 10.2 MP2 full-frame back-illuminated Exmore R CMOS sensor that can deliver 15+ stop wide dynamic range with high sensitivity and low noise.

The FX6 has a base sensitivity of ISO 800 with an enhanced sensitivity setting of ISO 12,8004, which is expandable to 409,6005, meaning that you can shoot in low and even very low light conditions.

It’s capable of recording in XAVC Long GOP and XAVC All Intra 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160) at a quality up to 120fps. You might recall the BIONZ XR image processing engine, which was first introduced with Sony’s Alpha 7S III, well it is available for the FX6.

The Sony FX6 weighs in at 0.89kg and its 3.5-inch LCD Viewfinder can be attached on multiple locations on the camera body for flexibility and easy control. Other than that, it includes a 12G-SDI output that supports 16-bit RAW, HDMI, timecode in/out, built-in Wi-Fi and four channel audio recording. Not to forget, it offers two media slots that’s compatible with CFexpress Type-A cards in addition to UHS-II/UHS-I SDXC cards.

It seems that Sony is launching the Sony FX6 here in Malaysia from January 2021. Despite that announcement, it doesn’t have an official price just yet. We will update the article according should there be new updates on it. Till then, stay tuned to Pokde.net.

Pokdepinion: This might be enticing to those out there who want some portability for their shootings. I wonder how much it’ll cost though.
