Sony 24mm F1.4 G Master Prime
The new Sony 24mm F1.4G Master Prime (model SEL24F14GM) measures just 75.4mm x 92.4mm and weighs 445g. Coming from the flagship family of the G Master series, it combines high resolution and beautiful bokeh, both of which are redeeming features of G Master.
It perfectly complements Sony’s APS-C sensor mirrorless cameras such as α6500 and α6300 and brings a total number of native Sony α E-mount lens to 482.
FE 24mm F1.4 GM boasts a new optical design comprising 10 groups with 13 elements featuring two XA (extreme aspherical) elements and three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements. It helps suppress sagittal flare which allows point light sources are accurately reproduced.
The company’s Nano AR Coating is applied to reduce flare and ghosting for impressive clarity even in landscape shots where the position of the sun is more often than not problematic with a normal lens.
Not to forget, the FE 24mm F1.4 GM includes a number of professional controls that brings ease for you for both stills and movie shooting. An aperture ring allows direct, intuitive aperture control where else an aperture click switch makes it able to enable or disable click stops as required. The focus ring features Linear Response MF for fine, responsive manual focus control, giving the user the control immediacy needed for fast and accurate manual focusing.
Interested in the lens? Well the FE 24mm F1.4 will be available in mid of October 2018. Pricing is yet to be announced though, so we have to wait for more details on that. You can learn more on the lens at Sony’s website.
Pokdepinion: With an equivalent focal length of 36mm, this lens can be a great walk-around prime for general use. I wonder how much it would cost though. How much do you think it will be when it comes out?
