ASUS is planning to go all the way bullish in the competitive market this year, introducing one innovation after another. While we were still getting over with the ROG Zephyrus’ rather interesting AniMe Matrix lid, we were wowed by another wonder of the year, the ASUS ExpertBook B9 that is touted as the world’s lightest 14-inch laptop. This is the successor of the ExpertBook P5440 that we just reviewed recently.

Weighing in at an exaggerated 870 grams (we weighed it at 855 grams) and standing with a 14.9mm thin profile, the ASUS ExpertBook B9 feels extremely lightweight, almost like a tablet. Harnessing a frameless four-sided NanoEdge, the B9’s 14-inch panel fits into a 13-inch laptop chassis giving it an astonishing 94% screen-to-body ratio.

Looks are not all that the B9 has, this cute little monster packs a long-lasting battery, delivering up to 24 hours of runtime. It also has ASUS’ signature ErgoLift hinge for an improved typing experience, has built-in Alexa support and a Harman Kardon optimized audio system, making it a perfect business companion.

Under the hood, the ExpertBook B9 has the latest 10th Gen Intel Core CPU, up to Intel Core i7-10510 with integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 coupled to up to 16GB 2133MHz LDDR3 on board RAM (maximum 16GB support), a whopping two units of M.2 PCIe x4 SSD (SATA core lay) with maximum 2TB x 2 storage and WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 4.2 combo in dual-band 2×2 topology.

It also features a 14” FullHD (1920 x 1080), sRGB 100% (72% NTSC), LED backlit, anti-glare, non-touch, 300 nits display which hits just the sweet spot for a business machine at this size. Not just that, there is a camera at the top of this display that has a physical slider that hides it when you’re not using it for your ultimate peace of mind.

The ExpertBook B9 carries ample amount of input/output options including two Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI ports and an exclusive ASUS NumberPad 2.0 built into the touchpad for fast data entry.

The chassis itself is milled from Magnesium-Lithium alloy which itself is something that ASUS should be proud of. This is not the typical Magnesium-alloy material we’re talking about here. Both Magnesium and Lithium are active metals which are extremely tough to handle in industrial production. To merge them into an actual product goes to show that ASUS is going to the extremes this year. The result of this is an extremely tougher and lighter than the previous Magnesium-alloy models while still surviving the military grade MIL-STD-810G procedures.

Pokdepinion: If productivity is your DNA, business is in your blood, and you need a companion that you can totally rely on, you don’t have to look further than this. I’m dead serious.
