ASUS ROG Zephyrus S Officially Launched in Malaysia

At a launch event in Bangsar today, the folks over at ASUS Malaysia has launched the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S gaming laptop in Malaysia. It is currently said to be the world’s thinnest gaming laptop around, measuring roughly 15mm thin.Β It utilizes a 15.6-inch Full HD 144Hz display with 100% sRGB coverage, packed into a 14.2-inch chassis.

TheΒ ASUS ROG Zephyrus S is powered by the Intel Core i7-8750H and the 6GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU. It also has 16GBs of DDR4 RAM, and 512GBs NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD. It manages to pack all of these in a roughly 15mm thin all-metal chassis, and is 12% slimmer than the original Zephyrus (GX501), and complies with military-grade durability standards.

On the cooling side of things, it has the Active Aerodynamic System (AAS), where a special vent opens underneath the chassis when the lid is lifted in order to let the laptop draw in more air. The AAS intake measures at 5mm which stretches across the entire back of the body to improve airflow by 22% compared to traditional laptop designs.

Inside the laptop itself, it has a total of five heat pipes which pulls heat away from the components as well as the VRM circuitry that feeds them power. Thermal energy is the channeled along the heat pipes to four heatsinks and exhaust vents at the rear corners. It is said to be twice as many as the original Zephyrus laptop.

TheΒ ASUS ROG Zephyrus S gaming laptop has a desktop-inspired 4-zone RGB keyboard with Aura Sync. The colours can be customized via the all-new Armoury Crate software, which effectively replaces the ROG Gaming Center software. With a new UI layout, you can customize RGB lighting, set up custom game profiles, overclock, adjust cooling, and more.

As for the network side of things, it has the 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi which connects to compatible wireless networks at “greater-than-gigabit” speeds. Just keep in mind that the speeds are very much dependent on your router.
