Lenovo Announces Latest Legion 7 Series Gaming Laptops

Lenovo recently unveiled its latest generation of gaming laptops the Legion 7i and Legion 7 (16″, 7) portable laptops, as well as the thin and light Lenovo Legion Slim 7 and Legion 7i (16″, 7) laptops.

The new Lenovo Legion 7 series laptops have the highest battery capacity on a 16-inch gaming laptop and are also the first 16-inch gaming laptops with FHD webcams for improved streaming and the first WQXGA (2560×1600) gaming laptops. The minimalist design, long battery life, and whisper-quiet artificial intelligence (A.I.) optimized thermals of the Windows 11 laptops are designed for consumers who value performance and mobility.

The Legion 7i and Legion 7 (16″, 7) gaming laptops are designed for gamers who need the best performance possible. The sleek and modest sports-tuned design of the laptops includes a redesigned hinge and I/O dashboard.

The new Legion 7i and 7 laptops are made of aluminum and magnesium aerospace-grade metal and have a CNC metal trim that is subtle and minimalist in its display of unbridled power. An RGB system with keyboard and trim effects that sync up with the content presented on its screen.

The Legion TrueStrike keyboard also has curved keys with deeper travel than the previous model. With the new WASD Force Sensor Technology and optional swappable keys, players may speed up their in-game character as they apply more force to the keys.

The Legion 7i and Legion 7 feature the latest graphics, CPUs, and storage in a 2.5kg chassis that is visually slimmer than the previous generation and as thin as 19mm. With a battery of 99.99Whr and up to 135Whr USB Type-C fast charging, this strong machine offers a substantial range as well.

The laptops are built with a 16-inch WQXGA display and a larger 16:10 aspect ratio, up to 1,250 nits peak brightness, full DCI-P3 calibrated colour space coverage, high dynamic range, and TÜV eye-safe certification. Gamers can select from three-panel configurations with customizable refresh rates of up to 240Hz (165Hz standard) for everyday use, smoother eSports gameplay where every frame counts, or cinematic images with stunning colour precision. Tobii Horizon software which provides a more immersive gaming experience, and Tobii Aware which employs smart sensor technology to assist improve users’ security, privacy, and welfare, are also included in the new Legion 7i and Legion 7 laptops.

The Legion 7i and Legion 7 are all optimized for peak performance by the Lenovo Legion A.I. Engine 2.0. This A.I. engine can predict fan curves, and balance GPU and CPU resource output in real time to give the optimal performance for each game. Its A.I. calibration can intelligently boost the Lenovo Legion Coldfront 4.0 thermal system to cool down the GPU and CPU, while the laptop’s vapour chamber technology tests the boundaries of desktop-level performance CPUs, with up to 115W of thermal capacity without throttling. The thermals also have 67% thinner fan blades than the previous generation for better airflow, a phase-change thermal compound covering for faster heat transfer, a greater surface area, and sub-keyboard intake vents.

The Legion 7i (16″) with Intel Core processor is priced at $2,449 and will be available starting May 2022. The Legion 7 (16″) AMD Advantage Edition with AMD Ryzen processor is priced at $2,059 and will be available in June 2022.

The new Lenovo Legion Slim 7i and Legion Slim 7 (16″, 7) are intended for strong gaming and content creation experiences in a sleek and simple form, making them Lenovo Legion’s thinnest and lightest 16-inch gaming laptops. The CNC-machined metal trims build is light and sleek at 2kg and 16mm, due to its aluminum and magnesium aerospace-grade metal unibody case. The elevated design is appropriate for almost any environment while taking up the same total footprint as a 15-inch laptop.

The new laptops provide better mobility while maintaining power and performance with up to 12th Gen Intel Core H Series or AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processors. With the laptops’ upgraded and dedicated back I/O dashboard with HDMI 2.1, users will require fewer adapters on the go, while enjoying unmatched range with a large 99.99Whr capacity battery and up to 135 Whr USB Type-C Fast Charging.

With TÜV Rheinland Gold Label certification, the 16-inch display also allows gamers to discover new pixel-perfect worlds of colour and shadow, with colour calibration software support, high dynamic range, and up to DCI P3 colour accuracy. The Legion Slim 7 series has also increased the active area ratio of the 16-inch WQXGA display from 86 percent to 93 percent with a 16:10 aspect ratio for even more immersive viewing. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 series is offered in three-panel options with selectable refresh rates ranging from 165Hz to 240Hz and optional Mini-LED.

The Legion Slim 7i and Legion 7 are optimized by A.I. in the Lenovo Legion Coldfront 4.0 thermal system and Lenovo Legion A.I. Engine 2.0 to balance GPU and CPU resource output for improved performance. The laptop has a 29 percent increase in size and 31 percent more liquid crystal polymer fan blades that are also 40 percent thinner, while spinning 100rpm faster thanks to a dual-fan system.

Furthermore, an additional copper heat pipe dedicated solely to the GPU VRAM and a coating of phase-change thermal compound to boost heat sink effectiveness are among the generational improvements to the thermal system. Lenovo also included a sub-key air intake system in the keyboard, which has over 1,172 intake vents and 1.3mm soft-landing switches for faster, more accurate key strikes.

The Legion Slim 7i (16″) with Intel Core processor is priced at $1,589 and will be available in May 2022. The Legion Slim 7 (16″) 7 AMD Advantage Edition with AMD Ryzen processor is priced at $1,519 and will be available in June 2022.
