Razer Blade 18 In the Works? Intel 13th Gen-Powered Laptop Spotted in Geekbench

When was the last time you saw a laptop that grew past 17 inches in size? Looks like those supersized laptops may make a return if this leak of a Razer Blade 18 on Geekbench is anything to go by.

Spotted by Twitter user @BenchLeaks, this entry of Razer Blade 18 (model number RZ09-0484) has, in fact, powered by a yet-unannounced Intel 13th-gen mobile GPU, the Core i9-13900HX:

So what’s inside this CPU? While the benchmark data says 24 cores and 32 threads, if the desktop counterparts are any indication – it is likely arranged in 8P+16E core configuration. Being the HX-series, expect this processor to be rather power hungry by laptop’s standards.

Add those two ingredients together and you get what is the most powerful mobile processor by a long shot – 45% to be exact – the current highest-scoring CPU (Core i9-12950HX) only gets a measly 13,887 points by comparison. Single-core improvements is out of the question: 14% improvement over the same Core i9-12950HX. There is no indication if this is still an engineering sample which is yet to be fully tuned or a full blown chip stretching its legs, so there could still be room for even more performance.

The HX-series processors has been among the most powerful chips available from Intel’s mobile portfolio – which may explain Razer going for an even bigger chassis to accommodate the potentially bigger cooling elements. Another one possibility for the bigger display size however, is likely 16:10 screen from an originally 17″ panel – similar to that of 15″ where 16:10 displays is often classified as 16″ laptops, although this is not confirmed at the moment.

No word on release date yet – however Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel, did mention the company wants to launch new laptop CPUs by the end of 2022.
