Malaysia has been listed as part of the first wave of expansions for the Apple Independent Repair Provider (IRP) program. Registration for it will be opening later this week and for the countries that weren’t listed, it’s expected to be made available at a later time.

For those of you who aren’t aware, the IRP designation is given to companies that have been authorized by Apple to repair iPhone and Mac that are out of their warranty period. For those that are within warranty, it can only be done by Apple Authorized Service Providers, and they are also able to repair other Apple products such as the Apple Watch.

The Apple Independent Repair Providers do have direct access to genuine spare parts, tools, and diagnostics. These people also have the proper training, service guides, and other resources to help them execute the repairs and maintenance properly so there’s nothing to worry about. The technicians will have to pass Apple Certifications exams through Authorized Testing Centers in order to be certified.

If you want to know whether your service provider is a verified Apple Independent Repair Provider or Apple Authorized Service Provider, you can click right here. For companies that want to be certified, you can keep an eye out on this page instead.
