ASUS launched their ASUS ZenFone 4 lineup sometime back, but they have only released the ASUS ZenFone 4 Selfie and the ZenFone 4 Max Pro, before following up with the ZenFone 4 Max. Those were pretty much niche devices, satisfying a certain crowd of consumers who really enjoy selfies or ultra-long battery life. The ASUS ZenFone 4 (ZE554KL) which is available starting today is priced at RM2099 and is a pretty balanced device compared to those announced earlier here in Malaysia.

The ASUS ZenFone 4 goes for a dual camera setup like the ZenFone 4 Max Pro but instead of a 16MP + 5MP setup, we have a 12MP main camera with a wide f/1.8 aperture and equally big pixels coming in at 1.4 µm. There is also Dual Pixel autofocus to deliver stunningly fast autofocus in just 0.03 seconds. The wide angle camera is of a higher resolution at 8MP and sports a wide 120° field of view to take more in, or just to get a different perspective.

Performance will be courtesy of the Snapdragon 630 which sports eight Cortex A53 clocked at up to 2.2 GHz. There will be 6GB of LPDDR4 and 64GB of eMCP storage. eMCP storage is combining eMMC with mobile DRAM to save space in compact smartphones. The ASUS ZenFone 4 runs ASUS ZenUI 4.0 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but an update to Android 8.0 Oreo has been promised for the whole ZenFone 4 line up.

With the decently sized 5.5″ 1080p display and the 3300 mAh battery, the ASUS ZenFone 4 should be able to last more than the average working day. There is also fast charging support so rejuicing the ASUS ZenFone 4 shouldn’t be take too long at all.

You can get the ASUS ZenFone 4 at all of ASUS’ authorized resellers, or at ASUS’ official Lazada store, when it is listed there.

Pokdepinion: The ASUS ZenFone 4 looks like a decent upgrade over the ASUS ZenFone 3 that came before it, and we can’t wait to put it through its paces!
