ASUS ZenFone Max M2 announced – Entry-point barrier destructed!
While the hype of the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is being built, ASUS slipped in yet another entry-level smartphone into the arsenal, the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 (note the missing Pro). This is ASUS’ first Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 based smartphone breaking the barriers of entry smartphones, extending the portfolio of the ASUS ZenFone Max series.
Unlike the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2, the ZenFone max is encased in a 7.7mm slim metal body that trims the weight down by 11.5% compared to the Zenfone Max M1 which was bulkier.
The display is a 6.3″ all-screen display, similar like what you would find on the ZenFone Max Pro M2, except that it has a HD+ (1520 x 720) display resolution instead. It holds an 88% screen-to-body ratio making it a pretty good phone for its range.
The camera holds a 13MP f/1.8 aperture with AI Scene detection. It also allows 4K UHD video recording and has EIS for image stabilization. The setup is pretty close (but no the same) to that on the Pro version which shows that ASUS didn’t just put a device out there for the sake of making it affordable.
Here’s a comparison table of what the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 will be having under the hood against its direct competitors. It surely does look promising.
There are two variants that differ in RAM and storage sizes between 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB options. While ASUS claims that the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 will be making its way to Malaysia, they have not announced when it will be made available. Certainly not before end of this year though. Pokdepinion: ASUS is on a streak, bringing all these affordable devices to the market. I look at this as a repackaged ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 for the next year market.
