ASUS ZenFone Max M2 is coming to Malaysia too!
In a teaser just published by ASUS’ official Facebook page, it appears that we will be getting the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 here in Malaysia too. It was previously launched in Indonesia along with the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2, so its arrival here should satisfy those who are looking for a more affordable smartphone.
How much more affordable? It starts from Rp.2 299 000 for the 3GB + 32GB variant in Indonesia, which translates to around RM658. The higher end 4GB + 64GB version was launched for Rp.2 699 000 (~RM773). Of course we can’t directly convert, but we can expect local pricing to be somewhat similar. Our local pricing for the ZenFone Max Pro M2 was actually slightly cheaper than Indonesia, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
Specifications for the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 includes a Snapdragon 632 chipset running at up to 1.8 GHz, which is actually somewhat of a downgrade from the Snapdragon 636 in the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1. It will sport a notched 6.3″ HD+ IPS display, which will be powered by a sizeable 4000 mAh battery.
The camera chops of the ASUS ZenFone Max M2 will be courtesy of a 13MP f/1.8 + 2MP rear camera setup, and a 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera. The front facing camera is assisted by a softlight LED flash for better selfies in dim conditions. Design wise, the back looks eerily similar to the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1.
As a member of the ASUS ZenFone Max family, it runs Stock Android Oreo. What do you think of the ASUS ZenFone Max M2?
Pokdepinion: I think it would actually be better to pick up an ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1, unless you need a better camera.
