The ASUS ZenFone Max series has been ASUS’ best selling device ever since its inception, so much so that today it’s officially announced that the ASUS ZenFone Max will now be a series of it’s own rather than sharing the line-up with the rest of the ZenFone devices. This explains the missing number 4 this time around and the introduction of the M1. Moving forward, the next generation of the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus will be named ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M2 and so forth. This is very important because, ASUS’ ZenFone Max has been a remarkable device that promotes large battery as the main focus and right now it has taken the throne of becoming ASUS’ first device ever to enter the 18:9 display ratio game.

ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 enters the 18:9 Display Ratio

This is definitely the first thing to highlight. The 720p HD full-view display hones an ultrawide 18:9 ratio and super slim bezels giving an overall 80% screen-to-body ratio to this 5.7″ beauty. Viewing photos and videos are definitely going to be a game changer for the owners of the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 with all that display real estate. Thanks to Android’s Nougat OS, multi-tasking with screens side-by-side will also be very comfortable. The ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 is slim and elegant, the premium metal finish and 2.5D curved front edges makes it great in palms too.

Large Battery for all the juice

Of course, having all that display will require some serious stamina too. The ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 comes with a high-capacity, high-density 4130mAh battery that gives it long enough staying power while retaining compact dimensions. The battery has always been the highlight of the ZenFone Max series. It offers 26 hours standby time, 26 hours of 3G talk time, up to 21 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi, or up to 13 hours of video playback. Just like it’s predecessor, reverse charging is available in case you need to use it as a powerbank.

ASUS has also implemented the ASUS PowerMaster which was first introduced in the ASUS ZenFone 4 Max Pro, a suite of intelligent power-management technologies that has dedicated function of optimizing the battery life, ensuring safety and long-term performance, providing reverse-charging capabilities and many more. ASUS has also not taken QC lightly on the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 by having 12 safety checkpoints including temperature monitoring and overvoltage protection.

Photography at its heart

The ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 carries dual lens rear camera setup. The 16MP PixelMaster main camera is equipped with a wide f/2.0 aperture to capture clearer photos and a phase detection autofocus (PDAF) accurately focuses on the subject in just 0.03 seconds even when the subject is on the move.

The second camera is a 120° wide-angle camera that has a 200%-wider field of view than standard smartphone cameras, allowing more scenery to fit in the frame for dramatic shots.

The front camera, similar like the main camera is a 16MP with f/2.0 aperture too. ASUS is really bringing the ZenFone Max series to another level, I could say.

Octa-core Powerhouse

Under the hood of the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 is the MediaTek MT6750T Octa-core 1.5GHz processor coupled with a Mali T860 GPU for your high performance applications pleasure. It has 4GB RAM for higher temporary storage retaining and 32GB storage for your personal data keeping. If that is not enough, ASUS has provided a triple combo slot that holds two-nano SIM cards AND a Micro SD card without sacrificing one or the other. BRAVO ASUS!

Why go through the hassle of choosing when you can keep BOTH? Kudos ASUS!

The ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 is running on Android 7.0 Nougat with ZenUI 4.0 which is already existing in the current ASUS ZenFone 4 series and we already know how beautiful it is and how minimal the bloatware is now, so you can be assured the experience is going to be remarkable!

In case you didn’t know, the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 also has a fingerprint sensor AND face recognition which is rare to have them BOTH for a device under RM1000 in the market!

The ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 is available in 3 colors:

  • Deepsea Black
  • Sunlight Gold
  • Azure Silver (the one you can see in this post)

The full package includes the device, earphones, Micro-USB cable, OTG cable, SIM ejector pin, 10W USB power adapter, clear soft bumper case for protection and documentation.

The ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 is available for RM899 as its SRP and will be available from 20th December 2017 at ASUS authorized retailers.

If that is not enough for you, there is an RM200 trade-in rebate program available on selected retail stores or you can purchase from Lazada to get a RM200 shopping voucher instead. That drops the price down to RM699, which is really amazing for what this baby offers!

Pokdepinion: Welcome to the 18:9 era ASUS! We are so looking forward to this device! Specs are sweet, price is right, ASUS is BACK! Oh yeahhh!!
