The Black Shark made waves as the most affordable Snapdragon 845 smartphone when it was launched. It was offered here in Malaysia unofficially at pretty inflated prices, but nearly a full year after its initial launch, it will be offered officially here in Malaysia.

The Black Shark’s unique features include a 5.99″ FHD+ display with MEMC technology, liquid cooling for the Snapdragon 845 as well as support for the Black Shark Gamepad controller. Interestingly despite calling itself a gaming phone, the Black Shark does not have a 3.5mm jack, instead relying on USB-C to handle all the wired connectivity.

Prices has dropped a bit from launch, and you will also be getting the Black Shark Gamepad as part of the bundle. We are quite curious as to why the local distributor didn’t bring in the Black Shark Helo instead since it isn’t that much more expensive, and there’s RGB in the newer variant.

Pricing for the Black Shark pre-orders exclusively from DirectD are as follows:

  • 6GB RAM + 64GB storage: RM1599
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage: RM1799

The Black Shark will be offered here in Malaysia with 1-year warranty handled by the official distributor for Black Shark here in Malaysia. Stocks are expected to arrive by 25th February.

Key Black Shark Specifications

  • Snapdragon 845, octa core up to 2.8 GHz, 10nm FinFET
  • Up to 8GB RAM
  • Up to 128GB storage
  • 5.99″ FHD+, 97% DCI-P3 coverage, MEMC technology
  • 12MP f/1.75 + 20MP f/1.75 dual camera

Pokdepinion: I would rather wait out for the Black Shark Helo to arrive on Malaysian shores officially.
