The iPhone X used an OLED display from Samsung, which allowed them to create the slim bezels on every edge. Not slim enough though. The upcoming iPhone 9 which will come with a more affordable LCD display may actually have an advantage over the iPhone X. Slimmer bezels.

The iPhone X features a glorious OLED display

According to 9to5Mac, the upcoming iPhone 9 is expected to come with a notch still, but the bezels will be down to 0.5mm, half that of the iPhone X’s. This is thanks to a technology called “Full Active LCD” with Japan Pixels’ “Japan Pixel Eyes” touch sensor. However production issues may push the larger 6.1″ iPhone’s launch date to around November.

Being the more affordable model, smaller bezels are really nice to have. Especially when it is also going to feature the largest display ever in an iPhone. Will you be getting one when it arrives?

Pokdepinion: I did notice the rather substantial bezels of the iPhone X. Maybe the new iPhone might tickle my fancy? Especially since it will be more affordable…
