Huawei introduces new Nova series and MediaPad M3 at IFA 2016
Huawei has just introduced three new devices at IFA 2016 in Berlin. The Huawei MediaPad M3 and Nova series of smartphones showcases Huawei’s expertise at delivering premium devices, which is the very reason why it is now the number three smartphone manufacturer in the world.
The new Huawei Nova series feature stunning multi-curve designs, advanced camera features and performance updates for enhanced usability. It is designed to support the fast-paced lifestyles of the dynamic generation, and is thus priced more affordably than its flagship brethren. The Huawei Nova and Nova Plus are just the beginning of a new and exciting series designed to defy expectations.
The smaller of the two, the Huawei Nova features a 5″ full HD display under a 2.5D curved glass panel. Featuring nice ergonomic curves and a design that looks strikingly similar to the Nexus 6P, the Huawei Nova is one premium looking device. As usual for Huawei devices, the Huawei Nova features a nice curved aluminium back polished by an advanced sandblasting with the top panel being made of composite material. The Huawei Nova comes with a 12 MP rear camera with large 1.25μm pixels to allow you to capture amazing photos in low-light conditions. For audio enjoyment, it also features DTS Headphone:X technology, which optimizes the audio for the connected headphone/earphone. It packs a 3020 mAh battery.
The Huawei Nova Plus sports a 5.5″ FHD display, also under a 2.5D curved glass display. Instead of looking like the Nexus 6P, it looks a lot like the Huawei G8, with some cues from newer devices. The camera on the Huawei Nova Plus is a 16 MP one, but trades resolution for smaller pixels. As expected from a larger device, the Huawei Nova Plus also sports a bigger battery, at 3340 mAh. Both devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, mated to 3GB of RAM. EMUI 4.1 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow runs on both these Huawei Nova devices.
Price wise, the Huawei Nova will be priced at €399 (~RM1829.26), while the Huawei Nova Plus will be priced at €429 (~RM1966.80), and will be available in choices of Prestige Gold, Mystic Silver and Titanium Grey.
Huawei and HARMAN have long been working together, and we have the Huawei MediaPad M2 which featured audio certified by Harman Kardon. Aside from a partnership with Harman Kardon audio engineers to develop and fine-tune the audio systems, AKG also specifically designed the AKG H300 earphones for the MediaPad M3.
Besides great audio, the Huawei MediaPad M3 is also set to offer an excellent viewing experience with a 8.4″ IPS display which features a high 2560 x 1600 resolution, translating to 359 pixels per inch. The screen-to-body ratio is an impressive 82%, enhancing the sleek and compact style of the Huaei MediaPad M3. With Huawei’s ClariVu 3.0 display technology, eye strain is reduced by filtering out harmful blue light, while also delivering greater clarity and sharpness.
Processing is handled by the powerful Kirin 950, which has proven its worth in the Huawei Mate 8. The SoC is mated to 4GB of LPDDR4, for strong multitasking capabilities. Huawei’s industry-leading fingerprint sensor is also featured on the Huawei MediaPad M3, for high security and fast unlocking. Powering everything is a 5100 mAh battery, promising up to 6 hours of continuous 3D gameplay.
The Huawei MediaPad M3 is priced at €349 (~RM1600) for the lowest end WiFi-only variant, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while ranging all the way up to €449 (~RM2058.49) for the variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage and support for LTE connectivity. If you are interested to get the Huawei MediaPad M3 here in Malaysia, rest assured that we are among the first wave launch markets, which should mean that the Huawei MediaPad M3 will be made available here beginning September 26.
If you thought the colors the Huawei P9 launched with were too “professional” for you, well you are in luck. Two new vibrant colors are now available: Red and Blue, for consumers who prefer a little more color in their lives.
Pokdepinion: We have first experienced the Snapdragon 625 in the ASUS Zenfone 3, and we were quite impressed by its efficiency and performance, therefore the Huawei Nova series should be quite well off in the performance department. The Huawei MediaPad M3 also looks perfect for media consumption with its audio developed in partnership with Harman Kardon AND AKG, as well as a high resolution IPS display.
