HUAWEI’s upcoming flagship, the Mate 20, is already confirmed to come with the Kirin 980. More specifications has leaked out recently, and even the design of the HUAWEI Mate 20 is now online.

HUAWEI is apparently going to use a much smaller notch on the Mate 20, something similar to the OPPO F9’s notch. These renders from XDA-Developers show a tiny notch with a speaker above the front facing camera. The sensors are presumably moved to the bottom edge since there is no space at the top.

The renders also show a 3.5mm jack at the top, something which HUAWEI seemed pretty intent on removing since the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro. To see it come back is somewhat of a surprise. Over on the bottom is the loudspeaker and USB Type-C port.

The back is pretty unique looking though. While the HUAWEI P20 Pro went with a iPhone X-esque vertical camera arrangement, the HUAWEI Mate 20 sees a rather novel arrangement. The triple camera setup which was probably carried over from the P20 Pro are positioned in a square on the back. Seems like a very weird design choice.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 is expected to be powered by the Kirin 980, which is mated to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The glass back is expected to facilitate wireless charging, a feature which only the uber-premium flagship Mate RS had previously. There is going to be a huge 4200 mAh battery inside too.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 is expected to be announced pretty soon, so you can be sure that there will be a steady stream of leaks which reveal more of the device soon.
