The Lenovo Legion Y70 is the company’s newest gaming smartphone and unsurprisingly, it packs flagship-level hardware inside. What is surprising however is the design as it seems to have ditched the gamer aesthetic in favour of a more…normie look, likely to widen its intended audience and appeal to your average consumer.
The Lenovo Legion Y70 is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. To help with thermals, it is equipped with a vapour chamber cooling system with 10 layers of heat dissipation mechanisms. Apart from that, it has a 6.67-inch OLED display with an adaptive 144Hz refresh rate that can go as low as 48Hz.
Users can also expect a dual-speaker setup featuring Dolby Atmos, 5G support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, X-axis vibration motors, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. You will also get a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP wide-angle shooter with OIS, a 13MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor camera. The selfie camera on the other hand is a 16MP wide-angle shooter with a center-aligned punchhole notch.
All of these will be juiced up by a healthy 5,100mAh battery housed within an aluminum body, complete with 68W fast charging support sans wireless charging. As for OS, it will be running on the Android 12-based ZUi 14 out of the box.
The Lenovo Legion Y70 will be available in China starting 22nd August 2022 with retail prices going from CNY¥2,970 (RM1,952) to CNY¥4,270 (RM2,807) with colour options of black, silver, and red, though availability in other countries and in Malaysia have yet to be announced. Pokdepinion: At this point, I’m not even sure if I should call it a gaming phone or not. Sure, you still have the Legion branding but if given what it offers, it seems to be a more generalized product now.
