MIUI was always maintained in two channels, the slower but self-explanatory MIUI Stable, and MIUI Beta, where developers include the latest features before pushing it out to MIUI Stable. I have installed MIUI Beta on both my Mi MIX 2 and POCOPHONE F1, and they proved stable enough for daily use. But the MIUI development thinks that it isn’t helping them to maintain MIUI Beta, because users aren’t providing feedback to them. Yep, guilty.

As usual for any beta version, users are expected to feedback bugs and suggestions to improve on the software before it is ready for prime time. But as users like yours truly start using it them in their daily drivers, it defeats the purpose. On one end, it means MIUI developers are really good at keeping the stability intact while adding new features. On the other hand, it means that MIUI Beta is becoming pointless to maintain as a separate channel from MIUI Stable.

Yep, I got it around 2-3 weeks earlier on Global Beta than when Global Stable got this feature

As such, the MIUI developers have decided to stop releasing the global version of MIUI Beta for all devices starting 1st July 2019. What this means is that everyone will have to wait for the MIUI Stable release before getting to enjoy new features. MIUI Global Beta updates were released on a weekly cadence, which meant MIUI Beta users had the chance to enjoy it much earlier than MIUI Stable users.

I personally feel like this is a good move if the developers can turn their focus on delivering quicker updates to MIUI Stable users, since that’s where the main demographic is. What do you think?

Pokdepinion: Kudos on such a good job with MIUI Beta, but I do hope that MIUI Stable gets faster updates after this.
