New OPPO Reno7 Series Launched Starting From RM1,999

OPPO has just unveiled the brand new OPPO Reno7 Series which is dubbed the “Portrait Expert” due to the many camera features OPPO has implemented in the new smartphones.

The main attraction of the OPPO Reno7 Series is the advanced features OPPO has included with the series’ camera. The OPPO Reno7 5G comes with a triple camera setup that includes a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro camera. This is accompanied by a 32MP selfie camera.

The OPPO Reno7 Pro 5G in the meantime features a 50MP main camera that uses Sony’s IMX766 sensor as well as an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro camera. The front camera on the Reno7 Pro 5G is the world’s first smartphone to feature the Sony IMX709 sensor which OPPO says can take “flagship-level” pictures even in low light conditions. The OPPO Reno7 Pro 5G also comes with a unique light mode dubbed the Orbit Breathing Light that lights up the phone’s camera bump. You can see the Orbit Breathing Light feature in action below:

In terms of the display, the OPPO Reno7 5G comes packed with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and 180 Hz touch sampling rate while the OPPO Reno7 Pro 5G comes packed with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz as well. Under the hood, the Reno7 5G and Reno7 Pro 5G touts a MediaTek Dimensity 900 and Dimensity 1200 MAX SoC respectively.

There is also 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage on the Reno7 5G while the Reno7 Pro 5G comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Both smartphones are powered by dual 2250mAh batteries that total up to 4,500mAh and come with support for 65W SUPERVOOC fast charging. OPPO says that the OPPO Reno7 Series is capable of providing users with 2 hours of gaming performance with just 5 minutes of charging.

Apart from the Reno7 Series, OPPO also launched two new products with the OPPO Watch Free and the OPPO Enco Air2. The OPPO Watch Free is an entry-level smartwatch that touts a 1.64-inch AMOLED display as well as many sports and health features. The OPPO Watch Free comes with an OSleep All-Scenario Sleep Monitoring feature that OPPO says is capable of providing users with professional and comprehensive analysis of the user’s sleep.

Apart from that, the OPPO Watch Free features an in-built 6-sensor axis that supports up to 100 sports modes and has a battery life that can last up to 14 days. OPPO’s new smartwatch is also powered by WearOS and is customisable with over 40 different custom watch faces.

The OPPO Enco Air2 comes equipped with a 13.4-inch driver inside as well as a bass booster for increased bass performance. Not only does the OPPO Enco Air2 come with balanced sound but also two new Enco Live sound effects with the Bass Boost and Clear Vocals. The new earbuds also feature Bluetooth 5.2 with a low latency Game Mode and AI Noise Cancellation for clearer calls. The OPPO Enco Air2 also feature 4 hours of continuous playback and 24 hours with the charging case.

Price and availability

The OPPO Reno7 5G and OPPO Reno7 Pro 5G both retail for RM1,999 and RM2,999 respectively. The OPPO Reno7 5G is available in two colour options; Startrails Blue and Starry Black while the OPPO Reno7 Pro 5G will also be available in two colour options; Starlight Black and Startrails Blue. Other than that, the OPPO Watch Free will retail for RM499 and the OPPO Enco Buds Air2 will retail for RM249.

Pre-orders for the Reno7 Series 5G will be accepted from February 22nd to March 4th, 2022. Pre-ordered items are eligible for free gifts worth up to RM1,406! The first 100 customers who pick up their device at the Sunway Pyramid roadshow on March 5 and 6 will receive a complimentary OPPO Watch Free (worth RM449). Pokdepinion: While they look good, I think the pricetags for the new OPPO smartphones are a little high IMHO. Would be interesting to see how they fare in the market later on.
