Datuk Mohd Rauf Nasir has been named Managing Director of Nokia Malaysia, Maldives, and Sri Lanka, beginning August 1, 2021. In his new job, Datuk Rauf will be based in Kuala Lumpur and will be in charge of Nokia’s business and operations in the nations.

Datuk Mohd Rauf Nasir has over 30 years of expertise in the Malaysian telecommunications and information technology industries. Datuk Rauf was the Country President of Motorola Solutions Malaysia before joining Nokia, where he helped expand the company’s mission-critical communications business in the areas of public safety, oil and gas, transportation, and enterprise.

Prior to that, Datuk Rauf held a number of prominent positions at IBM, where he oversaw a variety of industries, including government, healthcare, and defence. His most recent position at IBM was General Manager of the Communications Sector, where he was responsible for major industries such as telecommunications, utilities, and media.

“Malaysia is a key market for Nokia and we will continue to work with industry stakeholders in the nation to advance its holistic digital transformation. As a global technology leader, Nokia is poised to strongly contribute to national technology advancements such as 5G.” said Datuk Mohd Rauf Nasir. “I look forward to working with our operator and enterprise customers – as well as with the government – to strengthen local ecosystems, especially in empowering Malaysia’s society and economy to accelerate the transition towards Industry 4.0.” 

Nokia’s continuous drive to expand its operations in the area will benefit from Datuk Rauf’s vast experience in Malaysia. His role is notably important for guiding Nokia’s delivery of innovation and essential solutions in the region, including high-speed private wireless networks and 5G, from the company’s unique portfolio.
