Dolby Laboratories announced a global, strategic intellectual property partnership with OPPO. The co-operation will see OPPO work with Dolby on the latter’s HE AAC, JPEG-HDR and other audio and video technologies.

Dolby Laboratories technologies are standards in their respective industries. High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding (HE AAC) is an audio encoding standard authorized for use to hundreds of companies around the world, enabling high quality audio with smaller filer size. Meanwhile JPEG-HDR is used to store high dynamic range data of more than 8-bits, allowing users to sample the entire range during post processing.

These two technologies are set to enhance the audio, video and imaging capabilities of OPPO smartphones. Dolby’s integration into smartphones is not unprecedented, but it would be a great addition to OPPO’s upcoming devices.

2018 is OPPO’s 10th anniversary. They also shared that they have officially entered the Japanese market, with plans to enter the European market soon. We look forward to more great news from OPPO.

Pokdepinion: If you didn’t know, OPPO also makes awesome audio products. The partnership with Dolby just stands to make them even more awesome!
