The Redmi K40 series came with a pretty wide selection of chips from both MediaTek and Qualcomm. The Redmi K40 Pro had the Snapdragon 888, the Redmi K40 the Snapdragon 870 and the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition packed the Dimensity 1200. It seems that the upcoming POCO F4 or Redmi K50 series will also feature several Snapdragon and Dimensity chips, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Snapdragon 870, Dimensity 7000 and Dimensity 9000 expected to power the various members of the Redmi K50 family.

Redmi K50 / POCO F4 series to tout chips from both Qualcomm and MediaTek?

POCO-F3-Malaysia

The Redmi K40 family comprised of the Redmi K40 — sold as the POCO F3 / Mi 11X globally — and the Redmi K40 Pro, Redmi K40 Pro+ as well as the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, which was rebranded as the POCO F3 GT in India. We might see a similar lineup, considering that the leak hinted at four different chipsets to be used by Redmi.

One thing that stands out in the rumor is the fact that the Snapdragon 870 will appear once again in the Redmi K50 family. It would be quite odd for Xiaomi to reuse the Snapdragon 870 once again, as it would mean that POCO F3 / Redmi K40 users have nothing to look forward to on the performance front, at least if POCO decides to rebrand the base Redmi K50 as the POCO F4. But as usual, these are leaks, so take all of it with a pinch of salt.

Aside from that, the selection of chips does seem pretty plausible. Redmi is expected to use the Dimensity 9000 in the Redmi K50 Gaming Pro, which might be rebadged as the POCO F4 GT in markets outside of China. There’s also apparently going to be a Redmi K50 Gaming Standard Edition, which will feature the Dimensity 7000 instead. The latter is apparently going to be a China-exclusive, although we have historically seen Xiaomi reserve the Redmi flagships for the China market, and rebadge the lower-end models for the global market, so we will definitely have to wait and see.

108MP cameras, 100W fast charging

The Redmi K50 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will probably be dubbed the Redmi K50 Pro or Redmi K50 Pro+, if we go by their last-gen naming scheme. Aside from the chipsets, other rumors have hinted towards 64MP cameras gracing the back of most of the Redmi K50 family, with one model supposed to come with a 108MP one.

They are also slated to tout high refresh rate displays, which isn’t too surprising since the entire Redmi K40 came with 120Hz OLED panels. 100W charging is apparently going to be featured on certain members of the Redmi K50 as well, which will make for a huge upgrade over the 33W fast charging supported by the Redmi K40 series.

The Redmi K50 family is slated for a December 2021 launch, so the wait isn’t too long to see if we will really see such a varied selection of chipsets with the Redmi K50 series.

Pokdepinion: I sure hope we get to see the POCO F4 GT here… We didn’t get the POCO F3 GT though, so while I m hopeful, I am not holding my breath.
