The Snapdragon 730, 730G and 665 chipsets have just been launched, but it seems that Qualcomm may have another chipset lined up in its new Snapdragon 700 series of chipset. The Snapdragon 735 will be the next chipset from Qualcomm to power upcoming premium mid-range smartphones.

From the leaked document, it appears that the Snapdragon 735 may very well be more advanced than the Snapdragon 855 in some ways. For starters, it does seem like it will feature an integrated 5G modem, while you would have to add a Snapdragon X50 modem to get 5G connectivity with the Snapdragon 855.

Single core performance on the Snapdragon 735 may also be better than the Snapdragon 855’s with a novel 1+1+6 configuration. The cores are going to be clocked as such: 1 x Kryo 4xx at 2.9 GHz, 1 x Kryo 4xx at 2.4 GHz and 6 x Kryo 4xx at 1.8 GHz. There will be a new GPU too: the Adreno 620 clocked at 750 MHz. The Snapdragon 735 will also share the Snapdragon 855’s 7nm manufacturing process, ensuring better efficiency.

The same source leaked out the Snapdragon 730 well ahead of its launch date — about 11 months early — and the leaks were right on point. So while we believe the Snapdragon 735 is on its way, it may not be launched until much later this year, or even next year.

Pokdepinion: Considering that most flagships don’t even have 5G yet, mid-range 5G smartphones can probably wait.
