It’s been rumored by many that Razer would be developing a smartphone since they bought smartphone maker, Nextbit. That rumor has been building up for quite some time now and finally it’s been confirmed. Razer are going to produce a mobile device, according to Razer CEO Min Liang Tan’s interview with CNBC.

Razer Mobile Device?

Razer Confirms Mobile Device Release - Set To Come Out This Year 29The company has confirmed that the device will be focusing on gaming and entertainment.

One of the most hotly rumored things about Razer is that we’re coming up with a mobile device and I can say that we are coming up with a mobile device specifically geared toward gamers and entertainment. We’re hoping to have it come by the end of the year, so that’s something we’re working on Min Liang Tan, Co-founder and CEO of Razer

It is not surprising to see Razer make such of a move, seeing that mobile gaming has been on the rise for quite some time. Thus, the mobile market looks set to be the company’s key focus.

Best known for their gaming peripherals and laptops, it was revealed by the CEO that Razer is planning on going public. He said that with a bigger funding, it allows them to invest further in R&D and would allow them to produce more products in the market.

It was made public in July that the company was seeking a Hong Kong initial public offering (IPO) by year end.

Pokdepinion: Not 100% sure of what he meant by ‘mobile device’. Is it a Razer smartphone? Will it be a Razer tablet? Something else entirely? Guess we will have to play the waiting game to find out even more info about it.
