In an media interview at today’s ROG Be Unstoppable launch event, the inevitable question was brought up: will the ROG Phone 2 be brought to Malaysia? While the ROG Phone was not a part of the lineup, ROG did boast about being the only brand capable of providing a complete gaming ecosystem. So of course, the question was asked. The answer?

Leo Tseng, ASUS Malaysia Country Head, had this to say:

“The ROG Phone 2 is coming to Malaysia. Just wait for it.”

He went on to share that the first ROG Phone experienced tremendous response in the local Malaysian market, thanking avid gamers in Malaysia for the strong support. He believes the ROG Phone 2 will be able to entice gamers even more this year.

ASUS has teased about the 120 Hz display that will be in the upcoming gaming smartphone, so we do know that it will have one of the most fluid displays ever on a smartphone. Aside from that, we have yet to see any other confirmed specifications.

Previous leaks have pointed to a 23rd July launch, which is in less than a month. The same rumor has also hinted at a more affordable price, so fingers crossed that it will ring true. Given the impressive specifications of the ASUS ZenFone 6, I am really curious as to how ASUS can further up their game to up your game.

Here’s what I hope to see in the ROG Phone 2:

  • Snapdragon 855, octa-core at up to 2.84 GHz, 7nm FinFET
  • Overclockable Adreno 640 GPU
  • Up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM, dual-channel
  • Up to 512GB UFS 3.0 storage (microSD support up to 2TB)
  • 6.0″ FHD+ bezel-less display, 120 Hz refresh rate
  • 48MP f/1.8 + 13MP ultra-wide
  • No selfie camera
  • 5000 mAh battery

What do you think ASUS will pack into the ROG Phone 2? And will it really be more affordable than the ROG Phone? Well, the wait isn’t much longer.

Pokdepinion: I can’t wait! If it gets priced below RM3000 I think I am going to eat Maggi for a few months to save up for it!
