The ROG Phone 5S lineup is now official, with the ROG Phone 5S and ROG Phone 5S Pro arriving with the Snapdragon 888 Plus, as previously rumored. It seems that ASUS won’t be changing much on this mid-cycle refresh aside from the chipset, but you do get a slightly faster touch response rate as well.

It also looks like ASUS will now ask you to shut an eye to the fact that the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is in fact, not the ultimate gaming phone in this generation anymore. The much awaited ROG Phone 5 Pro will be making way for the ROG Phone 5S Pro, which packs the color PMOLED display, which is probably preferable over the monochrome PMOLED display in the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate… and there’s also the faster chipset and higher 360Hz touch polling rate.

You can check the following table for the ROG Phone 5 series specs and pricing in Malaysia. Just substitute the 300Hz touch polling for 360Hz, and the Snapdragon 888 for the Snapdragon 888 Plus and you pretty much have the ROG Phone 5S specs. Pricing for the refreshed models is not known yet, but we might see a small increase. Or ASUS might just swallow the difference and price the ROG Phone 5S series at the exact same price points as the ROG Phone 5 lineup.

ASUS will be replacing the ROG Phone 5 series with the ROG Phone 5S models, when stock of the original ROG Phone 5 lineup with the non-Plus Snapdragon 888 runs out.

Pokdepinion: Well I guess ROG Phone 5 users won’t be too angry at the ROG Phone 5S launch, since the real-world difference should be quite small… But then again, ROG fans are those who want to be on the absolute cutting edge…
