Ever since we started using capacitive touchscreens as our main way of interacting with our smartphones — except you BlackBerry, you special snowflake — we have relied on display panels behind a sheet of glass. As we all know, glass is fragile. But what if we put the displays behind a flexible plastic sheet? You get an unbreakable, flexible display.

This isn’t unbreakable, and yes, this OLED display is also made by Samsung

The new unbreakable display is verified by UL (Underwriters Laboratories) to withstand military standard durability tests. It survived 1.2 meter drops 26x in succession, high (71°C) and low (-32°C) temperature tests without any damage. The display also took a 1.8m drop in its stride, testament to its durability.

The display is currently still in development for various applications, smartphones included. The time of broken displays is coming to an end, my friends…
