Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) Officially Unveiled in Malaysia

At a launch event in Kuala Lumpur today, Samsung Malaysia has officially launched their newest, and arguably most innovative smartphone yet, the Samsung Galaxy A9. What makes this smartphone rather special is the fact that it has 4 cameras, the most we’ve seen in a smartphone today (aside from prototypes).

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with 6GBs of RAM, 128GBs of storage, and is running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. With a quad-camera setup, not only is it more than the ones you see today, like the tri-camera setup on the Huawei P20 Pro, it is a notable step up from the newest Galaxy A7 smartphone.

It has a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2160×1080) Super AMOLED display and has dual-SIM capabilities. Interestingly, it’s not using those hybrid SIM slots so there is indeed a dedicated slot for microSD cards, supporting up to 512GBs of storage. For battery, it has a capacity of 3,800mAh and it supports fast charging via USB-C.

What you’re most likely going to be curious about here is the camera, and it’s definitely packing some power. On the Samsung Galaxy A9, you will find a 24MP f/1.7 main camera, a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom capabilities, a 5MP f/2.2 depth camera (Live Focus), and an ultra-wide 8MP f/2.4 camera with 120-degree viewing angle. For you selfie / wefie lovers out there, there will be a 24MP front-facing camera.
