The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is expected to launch in February 2022. While the new year isn’t here yet, we have learned quite a bit of the new flagship series, and here’s what we know thus far.

With a new year approaching, we can expect to see a brand new flagship series by the Korean giant, this time being the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. For starters, we’re expected to see it powered by two chipsets; the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200. While it’s hard to estimate the pricing, the expected retail price for now is USD $799 and USD $999 for the base and plus variant.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra on the other hand might end up being higher than USD $1,199 due to the inclusion of new features. While the base and plus variant will be traditionally the same like its predecessors, the Ultra variant is expected to adopt the S Pen with a built-in slot for it like the Galaxy Note series.

As for camera bump, the base and plus variants is expected to look similar to the S21 series with its contour cut design but the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will have individual lenses protruding instead of a full camera bump, likely as a way to shave off weight. Another design difference is that the base variant will have a polycarbonate back while the Plus will have a glass back.

For the camera itself, Samsung’s new 50MP sensor will replace the 12MP wide-angle camera on the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, while the Ultra variant will retain the 108MP sensor and periscope camera. There is an interesting note on the battery capacity as the base model is expected to have a smaller battery capacity, but the Plus and Ultra variant is expected to retain the same capacity, 4800mAh and 5000mAh respectively.

For now, we’re expected to learn more about it as we get closer to the launch. Just keep your eyes and ears out when February 2022 comes in as that’s when the Samsung Galaxy S22 series will launch, with the Galaxy S21 FE expected to launch a month earlier. We will report more on this as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.

Pokdepinion: I’m very excited to see the Ultra variant since it’s basically an indirect revival of the Galaxy Note. It’s exactly how I envisioned it to be and they couldn’t have done it a better way.
