Yeah, yeah, we know. Chinese smartphone manufacturers have been doing it since as far back as we can remember. But hey, it’s a step forward right? Considering that Samsung is using an in-screen fingerprint scanner for the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+, it can be hard to get a third-party screen protector for your new Galaxy S10. To alleviate your worries, Samsung has announced that they will be protecting the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ from day one with a pre-applied screen protector.

Samsung guarantees this screen protector will work with the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. It will most probably be made of plastic, as tempered glass screen protectors may just be too thick for the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner to work. We would love to be proven wrong though. They do recommend you to use only Samsung-branded screen protectors if you had to replace it, but then again, why wouldn’t Samsung?

If you want to buy Samsung’s replacement screen protector, it will cost you a cool $29.99 (~RM122). That’s pretty pricey for a screen protector when generally you can find screen protectors from China starting from as low as $1 (~RM4). Well at least you know that you are paying more for the peace of mind that your in-display fingerprint scanner will surely work.

Pokdepinion: I personally prefer touching smooth glass with the nice oleophobic coating, as compared to a plastic screen protector that gets icky over time.
