Sony appears set to unveil their first mid-range 5G smartphone featuring the Snapdragon 690. While there isn’t a name for it yet, it should presumably be dubbed the Sony Xperia 10 III. This comes after rumors of the Sony Xperia 10 II Plus being cancelled to make way for this.

The Snapdragon 690 should make the Sony Xperia 10 III a much snappier device than the Xperia 10 II, while the upgraded ISP and other components should also provide a much needed boost to the Sony Xperia 10 III’s imaging capabilities. The Snapdragon 690 will be a pretty significant upgrade over the Snapdragon 665 that powers the current-gen Xperia 10 II.

It will also reportedly offer “more than 4 cameras”, which will be quite interesting to see considering that even the flagship Sony Xperia 1 II only packs three. Hopefully Sony doesn’t take the easy way out and throw in depth sensors and count them as cameras.

On top of the Sony Xperia 10 III, Sony is also expected to introduce the Sony Xperia 1 III with the Snapdragon 875, which should surprise no one. A MediaTek-powered Xperia device is also reportedly in the works, which should arrive as the Sony Xperia L5.

Sony Xperia 10 II rm1299 price

I do think that this bit of news about the Sony Xperia 10 III comes just in time as Sony Malaysia slashes the prices on the Xperia 10 II by RM500. Will we see Sony unveil their first mid-range 5G smartphone for less than RM2000? We sure hope so!
