The POCO X3 NFC is coming soon — here’s what to expect

I don’t think the POCO brand needs any more introduction from me. I have sang their praises since the first POCOPHONE F1 arrived on the market, and for good reason. Coming in with exactly the stuff I need, the POCOPHONE F1 truly lived up to the POCO brand vision, which is to “meaningfully improve user’s lives with innovative technology.” It came with all that you need, and none that you don’t. With the POCO X3 NFC coming, let’s take a look at what POCO brought to us throughout the years.

POCOPHONE F1 — starting it all

The POCOPHONE F1 debuted sometime back, bringing flagship performance at a mid-range price point. It cut back on some of the unnecessary features that just add cost without improving the overall experience, and by doing just that, offered the Snapdragon 845 at a really affordable price. On top of that, you also get a heatpipe in the POCOPHONE F1 to efficiently cool the chipset for optimal performance, something which even today’s RM5000+ flagships does not.

While the POCOPHONE F1 had few cameras by today’s standards, it touted the excellent Sony IMX363 sensor for its main camera, which is mated to a depth sensor to make up to the AI Dual Camera. The Sony IMX363 was still featured in last year’s flagships, which is proof of its greatness. Last but not least, it also packed a pretty sizeable 4000mAh battery, complete with Quick Charge 3.0. It was truly unbelievable value at a time when flagships were really starting to become increasingly pricey. With that, it soon became one of the best-selling flagships around the world, and also spawned the #BaikBeliPOCO hashtag here.

POCO F2 Pro — a true successor

The brand was silent for most of last year, with the exception of some major updates that added more features to the already amazing POCOPHONE F1. But earlier this year, the POCO F2 Pro arrived as the true successor of the POCOPHONE F1, with massive upgrades in every area, from performance down to the build quality.

As with the POCOPHONE F1, the POCO F2 Pro came with the latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 865, and offered it at a mid-range price tag. Notably, it is quite a bit costlier than the POCOPHONE F1, but the POCO F2 Pro comes with a 6.67″ AMOLED full-screen display with a popup selfie camera, a AI Quad Camera setup comprising of a 64MP Sony IMX686 as its main camera, as well as an even larger 4700mAh battery with support for 30W Fast Charge.

It brings many of the latest features found in today’s flagship smartphones, repackages it into an equally premium experience and yet offers it in a very compelling package, complete with the option of getting it with a matte glass back. It was a true flagship, without the price tag.

The POCO X3 NFC?

From its name, we can pretty much tell that the POCO X3 NFC won’t be the successor to the POCO F2 Pro. It should come in as a mid-range offering, coming next in line after the POCO X2 which also brought great value for money in the mid-range segment.

Recent announcements have pointed towards the POCO X3 NFC being the world’s first smartphone to offer the Snapdragon 732G. Not much is known about the chip, but it is slated to pack Kryo 470 cores running at up to 2.3GHz. It is slated to be the next best 4G chipset from Qualcomm.

POCO’s marketing manager has also hinted at a rather impressive camera, comprising of a 64MP main camera long with a wide-angle shooter as well. We can pretty much expect the POCO X3 NFC to bring impressive bang-for-buck in its price range, as all of their devices have. There has also been rumors of a 120Hz display, which shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point, since the POCO X2 also sports one.
