Vivo has officially launched its latest flagship, the X90 Series – which comes in two flavors: the X90 and X90 Pro. The headlining feature is the 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989 sensor fitted into the X90 Pro, with 4:1 pixel binning, f/1.75 aperture, which is said to improve its light intake by 43% compared to the predecessor, the X80 Pro (which uses Samsung’s ISOCELL GNV sensor). The standard X90 meanwhile, will use a smaller 50MP IMX866VCS sensor instead.

Both phones will feature Vivo’s in-house V2 co-processor, featuring dedicated NPU, ISP and SRAM blocks, which is designed to run alongside MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 SoC for enhanced image signal processing. The chip will boost low-light performance with noise reduction algorithm even on high ISO settings.

ZEISS has its contributions too. On top of the T* lens coating, the collaboration sees the phone featuring Natural Color 2.0 for more accurate colors, various creative effects jointly developed which include Cine-Flare portrait mode and Miniature Effect, among other things.

On the performance department, the dual-chip design is paired with LPDDR5X for the X90 Pro (standard X90 uses LPDDR5) and UFS 4.0; Vivo claims 1.26 million points for the X90 Pro while the standard model clocked in at 1.22 million points on AnTuTu v9 benchmark.

Both feature similarly-sized batteries with the Pro at 4870mAh while the standard model is slightly less at 4810mAh. The dual-cell design allows up to 120W fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging – and the smartphone maker says 0-50% only requires 8:10 mins for the X90 Pro and exactly 8:00 minutes for the X90. If you don’t need that charging speed however, standard charging mode will top up the entire cell in just 29 minutes for both models.

The display meanwhile, is a 6.78″ curved 10-bit 120Hz, “Q9” panel that’s rated for 100% DCI-P3 color space and is HDR10+ certified. To reduce brightness flickering, the PWM frequency is set to 2160Hz. The Smart Eye Protection Mode, which works on a chip-level is co-developed with MediaTek to dynamically reduce the blue light while maintaining color accuracy.

The Vivo X90 Pro features only one color, which is Legend Black – the back panel is covered with vegan leather; while the standard X90 will have two color options: Breeze Blue and Asteroid Black. Unlike the Pro model, the back panel use a more conventional fingerprint-resistant glass panels. Both models are available at RM4,999 for X90 Pro and RM3,699 for X90.

Customers who purchase Vivo X90 models through Vivo Concept Store will be eligible to receive gifts (worth RM1,300), which include extended 1+1 year warranty, 1 year screen protection and 1 year battery warranty. Additionally, standard X90 buyers will get Vivo TWS Air (worth RM179) while X90 Pro buyers will receive a Joyoung Electric Baking Pan (worth RM399).
