UMi isn’t a brand you always hear about, but apparently they have made one of the most versatile pieces of smartphone hardware ever known to mankind. The UMi Touch is capable of running various Android skins from different manufacturers, including Flyme OS and VIBE UI, but what’s most notable is its ability to use Windows 10 Mobile.

UMI Touch

The UMi Touch’s hardware isn’t really special, sporting a 64-bit octa-core Mediatek MT6753 running at 1.5 GHz mated to 3GB of RAM. The camera in the UMi Touch uses the 13 MP Sony IMX328 sensor, which I couldn’t find more information about. The 4000 mAh battery should suffice to keep the 5.5″ 108p LTPS display lit for some time, especially with the frugal CPU. All of that is encased in an aluminium unibody, with a 2.5D glass covering the display. And oh, there is a fingerprint sensor below the display.

UMI Touch 2

A phone with Windows 10 Mobile will definitely be incomplete without Microsoft’s suite of enhancements. The UMi Touch disappoint as there is support for Cortana, Skype integration, inclusion of the Office suite and even the intuitive Lumia Camera app. I believe it will offer a very acceptable Windows 10 Mobile experience if the hardware can keep up.

ARVE Error: need id and provider

All of this only costs $149 (RM601.58) as part of a pre-order promotion, but even its retail price isn’t that scary at only $179 (RM722.70).

Pokdepinion: I believe this is a very good entry into the Windows 10 Mobile platform, which doesn’t have any value-for-money models yet. I wonder how well does the Mediatek MT6753 run Windows 10.
