Xiaomi has just announced the new Xiaomi Civi in China, a mid-range device with a number of interesting features targeted towards a younger demographic. Much of the specifications of the Xiaomi Civi is similar to the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE launched globally, but it does tout a new design and several features that surpasses the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE.

For starters, the Xiaomi Civi is also designed to fit into daintier hands like Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, with it being just 6.98mm thick while weighing 166g. This is marginally thicker and heavier than the Xiaomi 11 Lite, but I guess the use of a premium metal frame and matte glass back justifies the added weight. The thickness might also be attributed to the 6.55″ FHD curved OLED display, that supports a 120Hz refresh rate along with a peak brightness of 950 nits, clearly outclassing the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE.

The chipset powering the Xiaomi Civi is none other than the Snapdragon 778G that’s also featured in the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. However Xiaomi is offering the Xiaomi Civi with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It gets a slightly larger 4500mAh battery, that can be juiced up with 55W fast charging.

Camera wise, the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE may have a slight advantage. It seems that they share the same 64MP main camera and 8MP ultra-wide shooter, but the Xiaomi Civi settles for a 2MP f/2.4 fixed-focus macro shooter, while the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE gets the fancier 5MP f/2.4 telemacro camera.

The focus of Xiaomi Civi is probably its selfie camera. It’s a 32MP shooter that features autofocus for sharper shots, although Xiaomi is also extremely proud of their aggressive skin smoothening capabilities. Not sure why you would need to have sharper in-focus shots if all you are going to do is to smooth it all away. That’s also pretty at odds with its “天生好看” tagline, which roughly translate to “looking good naturally.”

The Xiaomi Civi might not be making its way to global markets, at least not as the Xiaomi Civi. It will most probably end up being renamed, presumably as the Xiaomi Note 11 or something. Or maybe the Xiaomi 11T Lite?

Pokdepinion: The glittery black finish sure looks enticing. Not too sure about the camera bump though…
