Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Series European Launch, Expected to Arrive in Malaysia Soon

Xiaomi is set to launch the Redmi Note 12 series in Europe next week, following its debut in China in late 2022 and Indian launch in January this year. The upcoming event will introduce the new lineup to the European market, although a Malaysian launch is also on the cards. The series consists of a standard model, as well as Pro and Pro+ variants, all featuring a similar design with an IP53 rating for dust and water resistance. While only the latter two sport curved displays, each model has specific specifications that set them apart.

The standard Redmi Note 12 model features a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, loudspeaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port, Android 12 via MIUI 13, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connectivity, and a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset with Adreno 619 GPU. It has up to 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging support. Its triple camera setup consists of a 48 MP primary, 8 MP ultra-wide, and 2 MP macro sensors, and a 13 MP selfie camera is housed in the display cutout.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro boasts a 6.67-inch curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port, Android 12 via MIUI 13, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Additionally, it comes with onboard stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC support. The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset with Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, up to 12 GB of RAM, and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Its 5,000mAh battery supports faster charging of 67W via USB-C. The rear camera setup features a 50 MP primary, 8 MP ultra-wide, and 2 MP macro sensors, while the front has a 16 MP selfie camera.

Lastly, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ model has the same display and specifications as the regular Pro model, with faster 120W wired charging support and a larger 200 MP primary sensor for its rear camera setup.

The European launch will take place on 23 March at 11PM GMT+8, livestreamed via Xiaomi’s official social media channels. In India, the vanilla Redmi Note 12 starts from INR 15,499, while the Pro variant is priced from INR 24,999, and the Pro+ starts at INR 25,999. As for Malaysia, the Redmi Note 12 Pro is already listed in SIRIM’s database, and a local launch is said to be coming soon, although the exact date has yet to be announced. Pokdepinion: It looks like a rather promising device but the number one question I have in mind now is the local price. Would it be affordable enough for many people to consider, or would it be a little higher than expected?
