We recently managed to get our hands on the the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE. While the review will still take some time, we wanted to give all of you a taste of this affordable tablet. Without further ado, here is our Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE first impressions.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is the company’s first ever Fan Edition tablet. If you’re not familiar with the branding, Samsung would take an existing flagship product and make it more affordable. There are two configurations to this tablet, a Wi-Fi only Snapdragon 778G and a 5G-capable Snapdragon 750G. As for memory, you can have either 4GB RAM with 64GB storage or 6GB RAM with 128GB storage.

Inside the box, you do get a complete set of accessories. In case you were wondering, they are still including chargers for this. Apart from that, you will also be getting the:

  • Charger
  • USB-A to USB-C cable
  • User guide
  • Warranty card
  • SIM Ejector tool
  • S Pen
  • The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE itself

For our review unit, we received the Mystic Silver color variant. It has a metallic back with a matte finish, which doesn’t easily attract fingerprints and smudges. You can also see its camera system here as well. The sides are metallic and, obviously, the front is glass as the display is there. It looks and feels very similar to the Galaxy Tab S7+, having a more premium build quality.

Moving on to the display, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE uses a 13.4-inch TFT display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and relatively thick bezels given today’s day and age. Because of that, there is no notch for the selfie camera, which is a 5MP shooter on the side as it’s meant to be held / placed horizontally for video calls. In case you’re wondering, there is no high refresh rate option here.

Based on initial usage, it performed pretty well despite not using a flagship-level SoC as my experience is smooth throughout. The stereo speakers and display quality is certainly more than adequate for an immersive, enjoyable multimedia experience, and the 16:10 aspect ratio lets you see more while still fitting well with most visual content. It’s definitely easy to enjoy mobiles games and videos on this. In case you’re wondering, there is no headphone jack here.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE isn’t a compact tablet by any means as it’s relatively large. However, it’s still very light and easy to bring around, especially if you need a laptop replacement or a secondary device to complement your phone on the go. You definitely need to use two hands with this but gesture navigation does make it easier to use in general. Furthermore, S Pen support increases its versatility.

For additional reference, our review unit of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE is running on Android 11 with the One UI 3.1.1 skin.
