Sony Malaysia Launches the MASTER A9F OLED TV Series – Best Android OLED TV in the Market?

The folks over at Sony Malaysia has officially launched the MASTER A9F OLED TV series, touted as having the best picture quality among their TV models.

At a launch event in Kuala Lumpur today, Sony Malaysia has officially launched their new MASTER A9F OLED TV series. The MASTER series is reserved for the best in picture quality that Sony has to offer in a home setting in their lineup of TVs.

The MASTER A9F 4K OLED TV series is powered by the newly developed Picture Processor X1 Ultimate, which is said to play a vital role in delivering visuals and accurate colour reproduction in the series. The Picture Processor X1 Ultimate is capable of intelligently detecting and analysing each object that shows up in the TV and optimize for accuracy and detail through a process called Object-based Super Resolution.

The Object-based HDR Remaster has also been upgraded so each object will have pinpointed, improved colours, depth, and texture which results in an overall improvement in visuals. With Sony’s proprietary TRILUMINOS Display technology, it has access to a wider colour palette and thus, will allow them to provide the most accurate colours from its source material (videos and any visual content displayed on the TV).

There TV will have 8 million self-illuminating pixels and coupled with the Sony-original panel controller for OLED, it’s expected to improve on colour reproduction further as well as delivering the truest blacks possible.

As for audio, the MASTER A9F OLED series will have Acoustic Surface Audio+ which creates a rich sound field delivered by 3 actuators and 2 subwoofers facing sideways.

As you may have remembered, we reported about Netflix introducing the brand new Calibrated Mode which brings studio quality picture to home television set. However, you may also remember that it’s not applicable with all TVs. Well, you’ll be glad to know that the A9F OLED TV series will support the new Netflix Calibrated Mode so you’ll know you’ll get the best Netflix viewing experience with these TVs.

It’s worth nothing that it is powered by Android 8.0 Oreo as its operating system. This gives you access to Android TV with Handsfree Voice Search thanks to its built-in microphone and access to Android’s wide variety of apps via the Google Play Store. One of the more obvious reasons here is easy access to the Netflix app but in this sense, you aren’t limited to just this as well.

Pricing & Availability for Each Model

There are 2 models that will be available from the Sony MASTER A9F OLED TV series. The 65-inch KD-65A9F 4K OLED TV will be retailing for RM21,999 while the 55-inch KD-55A9F 4K OLED TV will be retailing for RM14,999. Both of them will be available in Malaysia starting September 2018 onwards.
