Amazfit’s latest smartwatch announced at CES 2020 will definitely entice those who have been holding out on them because of battery life concerns. The Amazfit T-Rex promises over 66-days of battery life with its 390 mAh battery. Of course, there are quite a number of sacrifices you will have to make t o squeeze out the maximum battery life.

With GPS turned on for your outdoor exercise tracking along with heart rate monitoring active, you will be looking at around 20 hours of juice, which is pretty much par for the course at this point. But the Amazfit T-Rex has yet another ace up its sleeve: it’s durability.

This might be the first smartwatch to receive MIL-STD 810G certification for its durability. It can resist temperatures from -40 to 70°C as well as withstand 96 hours of salt, acid and alkali sprays. These are among the 12 military-grade tests that the Amazfit T-Rex survived to obtain the certification, so you are pretty much assured that it will survive your daily abuse.

Speaking of which, it does sport a more rugged outlook than most smartwatches out there. Instead of using premium metal products which look good but can get scratched and dented easily, Amazfit used more durable synthetic materials to create the shell of the Amazfit T-Rex. With that said, it isn’t any more water resistant than any other smartwatch out there, with a 5 ATM rating.

Under the Gorilla Glass 3 cover glass lies a 1.3″ 360p AMOLED display. For features you get a BioTracker PPG heart rate sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, geomagnetic sensor (compass) and an ambient light sensor. It also packs GPS + GLONASS and Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, which is pretty good.

Priced at $140 (~RM573), the Amazfit T-Rex may not be the most affordable smartwatch out there, but it might be one of the most durable ones you can buy right now.
