Samsung Malaysia announced new smartwatch the Samsung Gear S3 – price might start from RM1500

Samsung Malaysia today announced the new striking and innovative Samsung Gear 3 smartwatch. Available in two designs, the rugged Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and the sleek Samsung Gear S3 Classic.

Both Gear S3 Frontier and Gear 3 Classic take inspiration from traditional watchmakers, offering refinements in design. This includes Samsung’s trademark sleek circular bezel and carefully-crafted details on the watch face.

The Gear S3 is IP68 water and dust resistant, and offers military grade durability. Equipped with a built-in GPS, as well as the S Health, Altitude or Barometer, Speedometer and Samsung pay. The Gear S3 is the world’s first wearable with Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) payment capabilities, meaning consumers can tap or swipe their debit card to make secure mobile payments from their wrist. The Samsung Pay is already supported in Malaysia through beta test program in conjunction with Maybank Malaysia.

Stainless steel 316L, the most commonly used material for analog watches, was selected as a primary material for the Gear S3. To navigate the Gear S3, it inherits the Gear S2 circular UX by manipulate its two-wat rotating bezel. Unlike the predecessor S2 which comes with 3G connectivity, the Gear S3 now supports LTE network. Making it the perfect partner for the Samsung Galaxy S7.

In term of display, the Gear S3 features 3-inch circular Super AMOLED display with resolution at 360×360. To make the display tougher, it features Corning Gorilla Glass SR+, a material specifically designed for wearable devices.

The Gear S3 is equipped with a dual core 1.0 GHz application processor (AP). Additionally, the device features 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. It also packs with 380mAh L-ion battery which capable to last up to four days on a single charge.
