Ubisoft Reveals More on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at Gamescom 2018

Over at Gamescom 2018 today, Ubisoft showcased a world of danger and legends in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Ancient Greece, 431BCE, a land rich with myths and legends, in the midst of the Peloponnesian War, fought between Sparta and Athens.

This world is ruled by the gods, and shaped by myths and legendary creatures. The team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey recaptured this pivotal moment in history when mythology merged with religion and tradition, shaping Ancient Greek life.

Players take control of either 1 of 2 protagonist, the male Alexios or female Kassandra, as you encounter these myths first hand in the form of Animals and Mythical Creatures, battling Mercenaries, and going against the Cult of Kosmos.

The Mercenaries are skilled warriors who will hunt players down if caught breaking the law. It is said that they are very strong in combat as they possess advanced combat techniques, wield valuable weapons, and are all-around tenacious.

As for the Cult of Kosmos, Ubisoft describes it best:

Lurking in the shadows, the mysterious Cult of Kosmos has discovered the existence of a powerful artifact that they are using to spread their influence throughout Greece to manipulate its leaders.

Intent on gaining ultimate control over Greece and taking down anyone in their way, these masked figures include politicians, merchants, pirates, generals and can be hidden amongst the hero’s supposed allies.

Ubisoft also showed off some of the mechanics behind the game in a 3-part video series, which we included right above here.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 5th October 2018.
