Overall
5/10Given how beastly the Xbox One X / Project Scorpio is, we anticipated a much higher price tag but clearly we were wrong. Let’s see how many will adopt it.
We all knew for a while now that the Xbox One X, a.k.a. Project Scorpio / Xbox One on steroids, is a powerful beast of a machine as far as consoles are concerned. With so much power, one can only imagine how much it will cost to own one.
Well imagine no more. Microsoft has finally unveiled the official price tag of the Xbox One X / Project Scorpio console, and it’s lower than we initially anticipated.
[E3 2017] Xbox One X / Project Scorpio Price Revealed
Today, during Microsoft’s E3 2017 press briefing, the house of Xbox revealed the price of the newly announced Xbox One X.The beast will officially be retailing for $499. If we directly convert it to Malaysian Ringgit, it will be priced at RM2,128.26. Of course, this shouldn’t be taken as the official price for Malaysia but rather, an expectation of what the price would be like here.
Xbox One X will be the “smallest Xbox console ever,” and comes with a lot of horsepower under its hood (at least for a console), including a CPU/GPU combo capable to deliver 6 teraFLOPS of computing power, 12 gigabytes of GDDR5 RAM, a 1 TB hard disk drive, and a 4K ultra HD Blu-ray disk driver. It’s said to be able to deliver true 4K gaming experience to the console space.
It’ll be certainly interesting to see how widely Xbox One X will be embraced by the audience, and whether the market will welcome and reward its combination between power and pricing or not.
Pokdepinion: The Xbox One X does have a nice ring to it, to be honest. It’s a solid console for sure, but I want to see how far developers will go with the hardware and if people are willing to adopt the new hardware. Will you be getting the new beast for yourself when it hits the market?
