Overwatch Has New Female Support Hero – Brigitte Is Playable Right Now

Blizzard has officially introduced a brand new hero in Overwatch, and her name is Brigitte. She’s a support hero with a rather unique skillset, that’s for sure.

If you have been waiting for Blizzard to spice things up in Overwatch, well look no further. A brand new hero has been introduced in the game, and her name is Brigitte. She’s a support-type hero, and she has a rather unique skillset that will certainly change the landscape of the game.

For those of you who aren’t aware, her full name is Brigitte Lindholm and yes, she is the youngest daughter of the turret-building defense hero Torbjörn Lindholm. She is also the same girl we saw in Reinhardt’s short film that was released not too long ago. It is said that she too has an aptitude for engineering, but excelled more in armor fabrication and defensive systems.

Everyone expected that Brigitte would continue her apprenticeship and follow in her father’s footsteps. But her plans changed due to influence of another prominent figure in her life, her father’s close friend and fellow Overwatch agent, Reinhardt Wilhelm.

A close friend of the family and Brigitte’s godfather, Reinhardt told Brigitte tales of heroes and chivalry as she grew up. After his retirement and Overwatch’s fall, Reinhardt declared that he would become a knight-errant on a quest to bring justice. Before he left on his adventures, Brigitte surprised him by asking to join him as his squire. Reinhardt accepted.

Simply put, she was trained by Reinhardt himself and even developed her own special suit of armor in secret. Think of her as Reinhardt’s aid / squire in the game.

Here’s what we know about her skills in Overwatch

Brigitte’s Skills in Overwatch:

Rocket Flail

Her melee weapon has an extended range, enabling her to strike multiple enemies with a single swing.

Repair Pack

She throws a Repair Pack that can heal an ally. Any healing over that ally’s maximum health provides them with armor instead.

Whip Shot

She throws her flail a long distance, dealing damage and knocking an enemy away from her.

Barrier Shield

She deploys a frontal energy barrier to absorb a limited amount of damage.

Shield Bash

Once her Barrier Shield is deployed, she can dash forward to stun an enemy.

Rally (Ultimate Ability)

She moves faster and provides all nearby allies with armor that lasts until it’s removed by damage.

If you’re curious as to how she plays, she is actually already playable right now, just not in the main game. You’ll have to play the game in PTR to try her out. Just keep in mind that how she is in PTR doesn’t necessarily reflect how she will end up in the main game, as there will certainly be re-balances and changes to the character.

Pokdepinion: Oh my god, finally a new hero, and a pretty good one too. I’ve been needing a breath of fresh air in the game for a while now, and I can’t wait to test her capabilities. I certainly hope the next new hero Blizzard puts in is a tank though.
