If you have fond memories of playing Final Fantasy games, then chances are that you can remember some of the music being played in the background. Of course, there are other Square Enix games that Nobuo Uematsu composed music for, such as Chrono Trigger and Granblue Fantasy, but either way, we might not be seeing his work anytime soon.

He recently announced in his blog that he will be taking an extended leave of absence due to poor health, and apologizes to his fans and clients as he really needs some time to himself.

Although he didn’t go into detail about what lead to his illness, he mentioned how hectic some of his days are and that it has finally caught up with him as mental and physical exhaustion has taken a toll on his body.

In his blog, Uematsu explains:

I have decided to take an extended leave of absence and give my mind and body the time they need to properly mend. If I am to return, I want to do so in full health. Do not worry. Once I’ve made a full recovery, I’ll be back doing what I do best.

My current plan is to rest for the remainder of the year, and while I cannot commit to a method or time frame for my return, I’m very hopeful. I deeply apologize for the burden this decision places upon both my fans and my clients, and hope that you can understand and support the path I have chosen.
