New games by Valve on the horizon?

Campo Santo, the developers of popular indie mystery adventure video game Firewatch has been bought over by Valve following an announcement on the developers’ official website last weekend. The San Fransisco based developers, founded by former members from Telltale Games and Klei Entertainment stressed that despite their acquisition by Valve, development of their next game, In the Valley of Gods will continue on as normal.

In their blog post Campo Santo wrote,

We had a series of long conversations with the people at Valve and everyone shared the satisfaction we take in working with people whose talents dwarf our own to make things we never thought possible. Both sides spoke about our values and how, when you get right down to it, we, as human beings, are hard-limited by the time we have left when it comes to making the things we care about and believe in. They asked us if we’d all be interested in coming up to Bellevue and doing that there and we said yes.

Campo Santo also stated that they would be moving their operations to Valve’s company headquarters in Bellevue, Washington and that support on their previous game Firewatch will not be disrupted. As part of the acquisition, In The Valley of Gods will be made as a Valve game.

In The Valley of Gods is a first-person adventure game set in 1920s Egypt and was revealed during The Game Awards 2017. Here’s a short description of the game via Steam:

You are Rashida, a disgraced former explorer and filmmaker given one last shot at the adventurous life you desperately miss. Somewhere, beyond the endless miles of dunes, ruins, and tombs lies an incredible archaeological discovery—but it can’t be found without the help of Zora, the former partner you vowed never to work with again.

With Valve purchasing Campo Santo, could this mean that we might see future new games from Valve? Since both the studio’s games are first-person games, could we see a certain highly anticipated first-person game somewhere, somehow? So many questions, so little answers..
